Anne Rice was an American author whose books have sold more than 150 million copies, making her one of the best-selling authors of all time. Anne had attended the St. Alphonsus School, a private Catholic institution in New Orleans; and the St. Joseph Academy, an all-girls private high school in New Orleans. She had later studied at the Richardson High School, a magnet school in Richardson, Texas.
After her high school graduation in 1959, she had joined the Texas Woman’s University (TWU), a public co-educational university in Denton, Texas. After completing her freshman year there, she had taken a transfer to the North Texas State College (now known as the University of North Texas (UNT)), a public research university in Denton, Texas. She had dropped out of university after running out of money and failing to find employment.
Anne later started taking night courses at the University of San Francisco (USF), an all-male private Jesuit university that used to allow women to take night courses. She had then joined the San Francisco State University, a public university in San Francisco, California, from where she had earned a B.A. degree in political science in 1964. She had returned to the institution in 1970 and had graduated in 1972 with an M.A. degree.
